The release of Linger is just over a month away! So to celebrate, we thought it would be fun (and festive) to create a new Linger inspired theme for behindyelloweyes.com to use during the month of July to celebrate the release of the book. We’re challenging you shiver fans/graphic designers to design a header image that we can use as a part of our July layout for behindyelloweyes.com (and possibly reused in the future). So the winning header will be displayed for all to see on behindyelloweyes.com (and most likely on our twitter to).
How to enter:
Header size must be 1000px by 472px
Our site name must be included: behind yellow eyes
Please include our site welcome message: which can be seen on our current header
Deadline for submissions is June 25th
Must use the images provided:
Ms. Stiefvater is the author of two popular young adult series, The Wolves of Mercy Falls and The Books of Faerie, as well as a talented artist and musician. A subsidiary of Warner Brothers has even purchased the movie rights for one of her more recent books, Shiver. Ms. Stiefvater arrived despite the gloomy weather and entertained the audience of nearly forty teens and adults for over an hour. Her honest, open, and easy-going style quickly relaxed the audience who kept her busy with questions for most of her time there. From publishing tips, to writer’s block advice, to detailed queries about her books and their characters, there was hardly time to pause, but Ms. Stiefvater jumped energetically around the stage (and occasionally onto her chair), keeping her audience laughing, often nearly in tears. One of her funniest tales was about how the titles for her books were chosen, as she acted out the various interpretations of, Still Wolves Watching, her original title for, Shiver.
“Long after the new wolf had gone, the image of him haunted me: the punture wounds at the bends of his elbows, the arrogance of his eyes, the familiarity of his face.”I'm guessing it's Isabel!
First of all, I should say, I have always loved animation, and stop-motion animation in particular (anyone else remember those California Raisins shows from the 80s? I was all over those). So when I say that this trailer took over 60 hours of work, know that I did it because I love tinkering with this stuff, not because all authors really ought to be spending a lot of time with exact-o knives and rubber cement in order to be successful.
behindyelloweyes.com is starting a campaign in an effort to stop the buying and selling of ARC’s (Advanced Reader Copies). A little something we like to call: the Respect ARC’s Campaign. Now because we’re a wolves of mercy falls fansite we’ve tailored the page to Linger, but really the campaign is for any book by any author. The idea came to us when we realized that people are buying and selling Linger ARC’s and we want readers to know that ARC’s (Linger or not) are not for sale; they are supposed to be given away. Maybe you didn’t know that and that’s okay because that’s what this campaign is all about, spreading the word. To read more about the campaign where we explain what an ARC is, the right way to go about getting one and why you shouldn’t buy or sell them, visit our Respect (linger) ARC Campaign page where you can grab a button and also become a supporting site (any site for any book is acceptable).
